Meetings Industry Council of Colorado
18th Annual Educational Conference and Trade Show

Denver, CO – The Meetings Industry Council (MIC) of Colorado hosted record 1,210 registered attendees for the 18th Annual MIC Conference & Trade Show on March 13 and 14, 2018. Feedback from those that attended the two-day conference at the Colorado Convention Center declared it a resounded success.

The first day of the conference included a deep dive risk management workshop for meeting professionals facilitated by Brenda Rivers from Andavo Meetings and an educational session on Creating Authentic, Memorable & Impactful Event Experiences, moderated by industry leader Greg Bogue, Vice President of Experience Design from Maritz Global Events. The day wrapped with a keynote address from top humorista Christine Cashen, also the 2018 MIC Emcee of MIC this year.

The second day of the conference opened with a thought-provoking look into technology & the 21st century by venerated futurist Mike Walsh, followed by a diverse lineup of educational concurrent sessions on numerous industry trends such as advancing team productivity, Facebook advertising ROI and building the next generation of problem solvers.

The 2018 Luncheon & Awards included the MIC Leadership Award for 2018, presented to Kristin Hutton, CMP as well as the MIC Chair Award, presented to Kimberly Forte, SGMP respectively. The 2018 awards also included the recognition of 2017-2018 Chair Dean Savoca, Ed., BCC, CSP™ by MIC Council Chair Elect Todd Seymour.

A new feature was added to MIC 2018, the Mindfulness Information Center, or “MIC at MIC”. Hosted by Leadership Advisor Holly Duckworth, CAE, CMP, LSP. The center was created as a place where attendees could learn techniques to integrate mindful practices to future events. It was a huge draw, garnering crowded sessions throughout the day.

The entire event was capped by a riveting closing address from the self-proclaimed “Professional Non-Professional” Yossi Ghinsberg, who captivated the audience with his survival story in the Amazon jungle, and how his personal struggles shaped the way he lives life in the business world. His story is now now a Hollywood motion picture starring Daniel Radcliffe [Jungle Movie Trailer].
